Fund Families, Not War: Representative Jim McGovern and Community Leaders Call for New National Priorities

Massachusetts Peace Action, Community Alliance for Peace and Justice, and Worcester Multifaith For Palestine are pleased to host Representative Jim McGovern and Worcester-area community leaders for a public press conference calling for federal priorities that invest in families, protect human rights, and uphold international law rather than continue unchecked military spending.

Representative McGovern has opposed the illegal war in Iran, the genocide and the starvation blockade in Gaza, ethnic cleansing in the West Bank, new military technology integration with Israel, and is considering a congressional letter against Israel’s death penalty law.

At this event, McGovern and local community leaders will discuss how the United States can enforce the international laws it helped write—laws against collective punishment, laws protecting civilians, laws holding countries accountable for war crimes—and re-allocate billions spent in endless wars to the urgent needs of Massachusetts families.

Local speakers will call for national security defined by economic stability and will connect federal military spending with the challenges families face at home: difficulties accessing food assistance, health care, education, housing, and other essential services.

The message is clear: federal funding should support families and human needs, not fuel genocide, apartheid, or the starvation of children.
